Asheville . Charleston . New River Gorge // Labor Day Weekend

Art & I headed on an 11-hour road trip Labor Day weekend to Charleston, South Carolina making a stop in Asheville, NC and Chimney Rock on the way. Asheville was the cutest city, tucked away in the mountains, and full of delicious southern cooking and craft breweries like Wicked Weed that made my beer geek fiance Art ridiculously excited. We then spent a few days relaxing on Seabrook Island with some our friends from Carnegie Mellon, and broke up our long drive back with a stop at New River Gorge, WV – which is insanely beautiful! I know I’m all about traveling abroad, but I must say, the US has some pretty spectacular places to see too 🙂

Lauren // Schenley Park Boho-inspired Styled Shoot

A few Sundays ago, my photographer friend Lauren from Lauren Renee Designs and I were finally able to squeeze in a fun shoot into our busy schedules (I literally had to rush off to give a talk to 400 freshman at CMU, and she works full-time and also shoots in any/all free time so this was a miracle!).  After changing and getting ready in the bathroom at Schenley Plaza, she took some yoga photos for me, and then we swapped roles. As  some of you may know, I love ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING BOHO, and I was actually able to re-use the garland on the rowboat from my own engagement shoot to make a flower crown for Lauren! She originally brought a white dress, but we decided that this pink dress from Lulu’s (, the one I wore for my engagement shoot also, was much more fun and flowy. I absolutely loved the way these turned out, and it also helps when your model is gorgeous! Doesn’t she look like a fairy princess wandering through a forest? We are planning a “real” styled shoot sometime in the fall, but not bad for being thrown together last minute eh?

Emily & Ryan // Pittsburgh Strip District Engagement

I was so delighted when Emily & Ryan asked me to shoot their engagement photos! Emily and I worked together at lululemon and is also a yoga teacher with me at The Yoga Hive. I admire her so much because she made a powerful choice to leave her high stress banking job at Goldman Sachs to pursue her dream in teaching yoga! Her fiance Ryan also left his engineering job to start a gluten-free brewery called Auroch’s which launched officially last week with much success! Talk about two passionate people who are not only passionate for their lives but for each other! After five years of long-distance, they are finally settling back in Pittsburgh and will be getting married at the Pittsburgh Opera House next year! I couldn’t be happier for the both of them!

We started our shoot by the Opera House and by the end made our way to Klavon’s for some ice cream sundaes – a perfectly sweet ending to a perfectly sweet shoot!
